the sunken land begins to rise
by uzwi
Finished copies of this strange kettle of fish are now going out to reviewers, etc. I’m reliably informed that release date is June 25th. So for guaranteed satisfaction, get your preorders in now. & if you see another date anywhere, please let Gollancz know, not here but here, or @Gollancz on Twitter. On the same date you’ll be able to get Comma Press’s collection, Settling the World, which selects from my short stories between 1969 and 2019, with an introduction by Jennifer Hodgson.
I just tried to order them both from Amazon UK, but it’s telling me that “Settling the World” can’t be sent to my address (so to the US in general)? No problem with “The Sunken Land,” though, which is weird, because they’re both listed as sold by Amazon, not by a third-party seller. Any way someone at Comma Press can figure out what’s going on?
Hi Mike,
More than looking forward to this. If you feel ready for public appearances when normality (!) returns please consider something down the West Midlands way.
Best regards,
Peter
Peter: Ah, normality, that glint of the unreachable through the fog of war etc etc… Must admit I’m pretty pissed-off at not being able to do proper readings. I had such fun 2017/18, with “You Should Come With Me Now”. The new collection has some classically readable items in it. Hope something can be sorted.
Hi Andrei: From Comma: “Not sure why the book can’t be sold by Amazon to a US buyer … [but] … we are going to make copies available from our North American distributor IPG shortly after the UK publication, and so if they request it in a bookshop, they will be able to order it in for them.” Best I can do. It might be some sort of zoning issue, or it might be deprioritising by Amazon.
